As I sit on the bus on my way to Milwaukee,  hear the hum of the engine and the sound the heat is making as it comes through the vents.  I hear the faint sound of music in Carissa's earphones and I hear the music playing from the stereo system in the car.  I hear cars zooming by and I hear Madison coughing.  I hear the crinkle of candy rappers and potato chip bags from snacks people are eating, and I hear the sound of Carissa breathing as she sleeps next to me.  The GPS is speaking, 30 more miles till we make a turn!  It's going to be a long trip!

Sitting in the hotel room in Milwaukee, I hear all kinds of noises.  I hear the distant noise of someone coughing a few rooms away, it is very muffled, so muffled I can barely hear it.  I hear the sound of a shower running either above my room or beside my room, I hear the toilet flushing and the loud CLING it makes at the end of it's flush.  I hear the housekeeping staff knocking on the door next to me to go in and clean their room.  I hear garbage bags rustling, and I hear the sound of the ice machine right outside our door.  I hear the ding the elevator makes when it reaches the floor, and the sound of the elevator opening on its track.  I hear the sound of cars honking outside my window, and emergency vehicles going to a call.

3/18/13

As I sit in the high school auditorium, I hear crowds of people outside waiting anxiously to get inside the theater.  A lot of the dialogue is from people who have already seen the show, talking about the good and bad things about the set, costumes, actors, and microphones.  Others are talking about how excited they are for the performance.  The dialogue is all muffled, so I can't entirely make out what is being said, I can only understand bits and pieces.  I hear the sound of set pieces scraping across the ground and students anxiously getting ready for another performance.  I can hear a slight hum coming from the lights, but the sound of people talking is being over powering, so the hum is very slight.

Sitting in Kings, I hear lots of dialogue going on.  I can hear the clang of dishes in the kitchen and the sound of oil sizzling on the grill.  The kitchen sounds extremely busy, even though the Kings is not all that busy.  I hear the distant sound of kids in the front playing with the crane machine and getting excited then disappointed because they almost won a prize, and I hear a child crying.  There is a bus boy not too far from me throwing dishes in his carrier, and a waitress taking orders.

Blogs 3/11/13

As I sit I am hearing the creeking of footsteps of a tenant upstairs.  It sounds similar to what I think elephant steps would sound like.  I also hear the footsteps of someone walking through the house, which also sounds like an elephant.  When this person walks past the kitchen I hear the clanging of pots and pans, which sort of sounds like the rattling of old chains.  I hear the whisk of an air purifier running and it sounds something like the ocean or a breeze.

Walking through the store I hear the clanging of cart wheels that sounds like chains rattling.  I hear people talking, but it's hard to decipher what exactly they are talking about.  I hear the sound of plastic sticking together when people are making selections in the meat department, which sort of sounds like velcrow being pulled a part really quickly.  I hear bags rustling, which reminds me of the sound of dead leaves in fall.  I hear the "bing" of the cashier ringing out other customers, which reminds me of the sound that hospital machines make.

2/25/13 (4 blogs)

As I sit here in Starbucks, I hear a lot of chatter.  There is different chatter regarding the snow outside, studying for midterms, and anticipation of spring break.  I hear the sound of the coffee machine that sounds sort of like one of those things they put in your mouth at the dentist's office to suck out the spit (gross I know).  I also hear chairs scraping against the floor and wood cracking in the fireplace.  There is a sound of slurping which in getting really obnoxious and the sound of a swinging door going back and forth.

As I sit her in my room, I am noticing that the noises around me are constantly changing.  I hear the thump of the bass of Garrett's stereo that has a tinny sound to it, sort of like someone is hitting a traffic barrier or something.  I also hear a tinny kind of noise in his music, that makes it sound older and more like it's coming from a record player.  The sound of his music is kind of overwhelming and I can't really hear anything else except the fan of my laptop which kind of sounds like the same fan in the light lab in the downstairs of the playhouse.

Sitting in the auditorium of Quaker Valley High School, waiting for my brother's District Chorus concert to begin, I hear a lot of chatter around me regarding the location of family members on the stage and where would be a good place to sit.  To my surprise, I don't hear the hum of microphones or any feedback coming from the microphones, and I don't hear the hum of lighting instruments either.  The woman behind me is turning the pages of her program, which is rubbing against her coat making the sound of paper ripping, and the other is tapping her pencil rhythmically on the back of my chair which sort of resembles the beginning stages of a rainstorm.

Sitting in my modern drama class, I hear a lot of ambient noise.  I hear the fan/hum of the projector and the hum of the lights on above me.  The fan sort of reminds me of what I think an ocean would sound like, and the hum is something that is hard to describe. I also hear the drone of Richard Rauh's voice talking about the play "The Birthday Party" and our upcoming exam on Wednesday.
